17 views of the J.R. Line, Tokyo
Decorative works for Abercrombie and Fitch take me around the world.
For three months, in the fall of 2009, I stayed in Tokyo, Japan, as an assistant to Mark Beard on an 11- story-high mural inside the A&F flagship store of Ginza.
As a diversion, I wandered every morning in neighborhoods near by, looking for some thing that could let me really explore the city.
I found it in the elevated Japan Railways tracks, just west of Ginza, filling up 2 sketchbooks with watercolors done on the spot. To be developed later in oil in my New York studio, and then in 3D cutouts.
This project fit very well with my previous exploration along the Hudson River Line.
