17 watercolor views of the J.R. Line, Tokyo
I had a few traditional Japanese sketchbooks, in the shape of a Leporello. Their accordion shape is an invitation to sketch long, continuous landscapes such as the JR Line tracks.
I started from Tokyo station, walking south on the West side of the tracks, the Marunouchi side. From the 2 sketchbooks painted on location I chose 17 views to be developed in oil as kakemonos, and later as 3D dioramas
